Much of Joey Solomon's content centers around the imperfect age of adolescence, false senses of belonging and beauty and the indeterminate state of disillusioned dreaming. He seems to be consistently caught between appreciating and criticizing the environments he finds himself in. Personal experience within the flightiness of human nature manifests itself visually in leftover inanimate objects.
The artist believes technological advancements seem to distance us from one another while promoting the opposite. Solomon pulls much of his perspective from personal entanglements in recurring themes of familial loyalty, queer self view and the erosion of our Earth. If nothing else, his work serves to affirm a learning process of our tender, dysfunctional species.
